Understand diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy costs, treatment for polyps and selected fibroids, hospital expenses, insurance, recovery and treatment-planning considerations.
Hysteroscopy in Hyderabad may cost approximately ₹15,000 to ₹60,000 or more, depending on whether the procedure is diagnostic or operative, what treatment is performed, anaesthesia, investigations, hospital or day-care charges and case complexity. Current published Hyderabad estimates commonly fall around ₹15,000–₹55,000, while My Health Hospitals' current hysteroscopy information lists approximately ₹10,000–₹18,000 for diagnostic hysteroscopy, ₹25,000–₹45,000 for operative hysteroscopy and ₹40,000–₹60,000 for selected fibroid or polyp removal. These figures are indicative planning ranges, not a fixed hospital quotation.
| Procedure / Treatment | Indicative Cost Range | What Can Affect the Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Diagnostic hysteroscopy | ₹10,000–₹25,000 | Day-care facility, anaesthesia, consultation, investigations and biopsy requirements |
| Operative hysteroscopy | ₹25,000–₹55,000 | Type of treatment, instruments, anaesthesia, surgeon and hospital charges |
| Polyp removal / hysteroscopic polypectomy | ₹30,000–₹60,000+ | Number and size of polyps, pathology, anaesthesia and operative complexity |
| Hysteroscopic fibroid treatment | ₹40,000–₹70,000+ | Fibroid size, location, depth, resection complexity and hospital stay |
Ranges are indicative market-planning estimates compiled from current published Hyderabad information and should not be treated as a hospital tariff or guaranteed quotation.
Hysteroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure used to examine the inside of the uterus with a thin, lighted instrument called a hysteroscope. It can be used for diagnosis and, when indicated, treatment during the same procedure.
The hysteroscope is passed through the vagina and cervix, so hysteroscopy does not usually require an abdominal incision. Depending on the findings, the gynecologist may take a biopsy or remove a polyp, selected submucosal fibroid or scar tissue.
Used primarily to inspect the uterine cavity and identify abnormalities such as polyps, adhesions or cavity-distorting fibroids. A biopsy may be taken when clinically indicated.
Allows treatment during hysteroscopy, such as removal of a polyp, selected submucosal fibroid or intrauterine adhesions, when the condition is suitable for hysteroscopic treatment.
Hysteroscopy may help investigate unexplained heavy, irregular or persistent uterine bleeding when an intracavity cause is suspected.
Polyps identified on ultrasound or other evaluation may be assessed and, when appropriate, removed hysteroscopically.
Selected fibroids that project into the uterine cavity may be suitable for hysteroscopic removal.
In selected patients, hysteroscopy can help assess the uterine cavity when a structural abnormality is suspected.
Hysteroscopic polypectomy removes a polyp from the uterine cavity under direct visualization. The removed tissue may be sent for histopathology.
Selected submucosal fibroids can be resected through the hysteroscope. Suitability depends on fibroid size, location, depth and other clinical factors.
Intrauterine adhesions may sometimes be divided hysteroscopically. Follow-up depends on the underlying cause and extent of adhesions.
A tissue sample may be taken when the gynecologist needs histopathological evaluation of the endometrium.
Operative hysteroscopy generally involves additional surgical work and equipment compared with a purely diagnostic examination.
Polyp removal, fibroid resection, adhesion treatment and biopsy can have different procedural requirements.
The anaesthesia plan depends on the procedure, patient factors and the treating team's recommendation.
Day-care or admission, facility charges, room category and additional monitoring can change the total expense.
Pre-procedure evaluation depends on the patient's symptoms, age, medical history and planned procedure. It may include:
Recovery depends on whether the hysteroscopy was diagnostic or operative and on the treatment performed. Many uncomplicated hysteroscopy procedures are completed as day-care procedures, although some patients may require observation or admission.
Mild cramping or light vaginal bleeding can occur after the procedure. Follow the gynecologist's instructions about activity, intercourse, bathing and medicines, and attend follow-up if tissue was removed or further treatment is required.
Hysteroscopy is generally a minimally invasive procedure, but complications can occur. These may include infection, bleeding, cervical injury, uterine perforation, fluid-related complications or anaesthesia-related problems. The risk profile depends on the procedure and individual medical factors.
Seek medical attention for heavy bleeding, severe or worsening abdominal pain, fever, foul-smelling discharge, fainting or other concerning symptoms after the procedure.
Without insurance, patients generally pay for consultation, investigations, hysteroscopy, anaesthesia, pathology, medicines and hospital or day-care charges according to the treatment plan. Ask for an itemized estimate before the procedure and clarify which services are included in the quoted package.
Medically necessary hysteroscopy may be covered under eligible health insurance policies, depending on the diagnosis, policy terms, waiting periods, exclusions, limits and pre-authorisation requirements. Fertility-related procedures and investigations can have different coverage rules, so confirm the specific benefit with the insurer before scheduling treatment.
